Mastering the Art of Blowing Your Trumpet in a Workplace with Stephen Tio Kauma. (25th August, 2024).

Ugandan humility will not take you far. So how does one blow their own trumpet in a workplace while remaining humble? This will be the crux of this conversation with Stephen Tio Kauma. Stephen Tio Kauma is the Director and Global Head of Human Resources at the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), a position he has held since 2015. With a balance sheet of $30 billion, Afreximbank focuses on supporting trade in Africa.

Member Updates.

Congratulations to our member, Louisa Kiwana Olafuyi, whose startup, Kunda Kids, emerged as one of the winners of the NSIA competition. Kunda Kids is an EdTech media company that provides engaging African-inspired digital content for children, parents, and libraries globally.

The NSIA Prize for Innovation aims to support and promote innovative solutions that contribute to Nigeria’s economic development, with this year's program attracting over 7,000 entries and offering top innovators a five-week training at Draper University in the USA.

“Firstly, as a founder, it’s so hard to delegate but as married co-founders, Dele and I just had twin girls so naturally we’ve had to keep pushing forward with our business despite the magnanimous shift in our family dynamic. We mentored our lead learning and development manager to pitch for the opportunity and she did such a great job,” said Louisa.

That is all that we have for the month of June. See you next month!
