Join Nambi Club today.

Hello,

Welcome to the first edition of Nambi, our monthly newsletter, where we do a roundup of what is happening in the Nambi community. Nambi is a community of ambitious Ugandans who support each other in making a mark on the global stage. The community is composed of founders, investors, and career professionals who aim to become leaders in their respective industries.

These Ugandans come together to share their experiences, learn from one another, and collaborate on projects that can have a lasting impact. Through mentorship, networking, and shared resources, Nambi members strive to unlock their full potential and become captains of their fields, whether in business, technology, or other sectors. Our members come from Goldman Sachs, Breega, BlackRock, Rocket Health, Eversend, Amazon, Apple etc. Click on the link below to apply to join our community.

Member Updates.

Our member, Melvyn Lubega, will spearhead Paris-based Breega’s investment into African startups after it launched a $75m Africa fund dubbed the Breega Africa Seed Fund I”. The fund aims to become the leading early-stage investor in African startups, focusing on high-impact and sustainable innovations that address the Sustainable Development Goals.

Breega has opened new offices in Lagos, Nigeria, and Cape Town, South Africa, to manage the pan-African fund, which will invest in ventures across Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, and several French-speaking African countries.  The firm plans to write checks ranging from $100,000 to $2 million, leveraging its experience in supporting startups in Europe to help drive growth and impact in the African market.

“Today, Africa receives one per cent of global funding for a region which is home to 18 per cent of the population of the planet. This is a large funding gap to close across a continent at the dawn of its technological potential. Breega, an international fund for founders built by founders, has a unique role to play in bridging this gap,” Lubega said. Lubega is also the founder of edutech unicorn Go1. That is all that we have for the month of June. See you next month!
